Legal vs. Ethical

20 08 2010

I’m feeling lazy today, but I’m also very curious to know what y’all think about something that’s been on my mind. Thus, I present to you…two polls! That’s right, I’m going all out tonight! Somebody hold me back! Actually, don’t. I don’t really like other people touching me (family excluded, of course).

To make sure you’re all well-informed I present the following facts: Ultram (tramadol) is a pain medication. According to the NIH website:

“Tramadol is used to relieve moderate to moderately severe pain. Tramadol extended-release tablets are only used by people who are expected to need medication to relieve pain around-the-clock for a long time. Tramadol is in a class of medications called opiate agonists. It works by changing the way the body senses pain.”

Tramadol, thought not a controlled substance, “has mu-opioid agonist activity, can be abused and may be subject to criminal diversion.”

If you don’t know what Viagra is, I just can’t help you. I don’t know why you even read my blog.

Now onto the judging!

With a Little Help from My Friends « Like Swimming

[…] I’m feeling a little fragile. Not like before, when I felt brittle – this is different. I kind of feel like I need a hug (and y’all know how I feel about touching). […]

I’m happy to say I flow with the majority. These polls make me nervous – which answer is correct? IS it, in fact, illegal? Why don’t I know this? Should I know this? And the biggest question of all – are we talking about the same doctor here? Is he hopping his wife up on pain meds and then taking Viagra so that he can take advantage of her?

A small glimpse into my sad, twisted mind.

I’ve taken tramadol before. Prescribed of course. It ended with me taking pictures of an M & M melting in my mouth, and wandering out of spanish class before almost fainting in the hallway.

Good times!

I really want to know what you think! I wish I could have voted hilariously pathetic on the viagra one.

I agree. What do YOU think Jenny? did someone really come in and prescribe that for himself & his wife? Where the heck was I? I always miss the fun stuff 🙂 LOL

I thought it said that Tramadol was agnostic.

Um, dude, you know you like it when I touch you. 😉 But on a serious note, I don’t think that doctors should be allowed (they’re not are they?) to prescribe for their family. 😐

I kinda wish the “I want to marry this man” was an option for the Viagra. I’m just sayin

so because you’re like the world class commenter, I’m all here snooping around your blog.

I’d like a third poll, something like: if there’s a monkey and viagra and a wife…yeah, I can’t even finish that. it was going to a very inappropriate place.

😀

I think the real question, Jen, is what do you think?
